Live At Rockpalast 1982

Andreas Vollenweider climbed the Lorelei rock. Not to enjoy the beautiful view of the Rhine and to have his mind destroyed by Lore Lay, the enchantress, because of her beauty, which - according to the legend - would have inevitably led to his death. Rather, he had intended to give a breathtaking concert with his “Friends” (Walter Keiser - drums, percussions and Pedro Haldemann - percussions) on the stage of the beautiful open-air theater on the evening of August 29, 1982.

In 1982, the extraordinary career of young Andreas, then 28 years old, was really taking off. A year earlier, he had released his album “Behind The Gardens - Behind The Wall - Under The Tree”. A mega-success, worldwide. With his unmistakable, own style, his very colorful, dynamic music, also characterized by the variety of exotic timbres, Vollenweider quickly thrilled an audience of millions. So it was that he and his fellow musicians managed to work their magic on this evening on the Lorelei Rock and captivate the audience with their music. The legendary Lore Lay could sit back and relax; her magic was not needed. The master of ceremonies, Vollenweider, took care of that personally, together with his two “assistants”: they enchanted (musically) the audience.

A small novelty on the side: for whatever reason, this Rockpalast was never broadcast. All the more gratifying that it has been available in the best possible sound and picture quality since 2024. A unique live concert by the then 28-year-old Andreas Vollenweider, recorded by WDR at the Loreley Open Air Festival on August 29, 1982.
